Lane Sanders began his musical studies at the age of 10, taking both drum and piano lessons. Through middle school and high school his musical interests broadened throughout the musical world, dwelling into all areas of music: marching, concert, orchestral, and jazz. While in high school, Lane was in his county honor band all four years, and was a member of the California All-State Honor Band for 3 years. He has since transferred to San Jose State University under orchestral instruction of Galen Lemmon, and has graduated with a Bachelor of Music in Percussion Performance, and a Masters Degree of Music in Percussion Performance.
As a rudimental player, Lane has won competitive snare solo competitions in his high school years, marched with the San Jose State University Marching Band Drumline 2001-2002, one of which he was section leader, and was a member of the Santa Clara Vanguard and Vanguard Cadets in 2002. From 2003-2006 Lane was an instructor for the SJSU Marching Band. He is currently doing freelance writing for many high schools in the San Jose/South Bay/East Bay area.
As an orchestral player, Lane has had experience in many different types of ensembles. He has been a guest musician with the Stanford Symphony Orchestra, the Berkeley Symphony Orchestra, Symphony Silicon Valley and most recently for the Air Force Band of the Golden West. Lane has also performed for many musicials, such as Hairspray, The Full Monty, Rent, The Who's Tommy, and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.
Lane has begun a career of musical directing as well, having recently conducted Miss Saigon, Guys and Dolls and Starmites for Children's Musical Theater San Jose.
